Cambridgeshire MQG Code of Conduct

Purpose

The purpose of this Code of Conduct is to ensure a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all members of our group, whether in person or online. By participating, all members agree to abide by these guidelines, fostering a space where everyone feels welcome, valued, and supported.


Our Values

  1. Respect: Treat everyone with dignity and consideration.

  2. Inclusivity: Embrace diversity and create a welcoming environment for people of all backgrounds and experiences.

  3. Collaboration: Support each other by sharing skills and open communication.

  4. Accountability: Take responsibility for your actions and words.

  5. Kindness: Act with empathy, understanding, and patience.


Expected Behaviour

  • Be respectful: Use respectful language and behaviour towards others.

  • Respect boundaries: Be mindful of others' personal space and consent.

  • Respect our terms – when you book a space at one of our events, please take the time to familiarise yourself with the terms. 

  • Be inclusive: Welcome and support participants from all backgrounds and experiences.

  • Support others: We're a group of people brought together by a shared interest, where possible, please encourage others to succeed by providing help and support

  • Communicate constructively: Focus on ideas and solutions rather than personal attacks.

  • The Committee are volunteers – Remember that our committee are doing this in addition to their day jobs and give a lot of their personal time to make sure the group runs smoothly and has a lot to offer.


Unacceptable Behaviour

  • Harassment: Including but not limited to verbal, physical, or written harassment of any kind.

  • Discrimination: Engaging in discriminatory remarks or actions based on race, gender, religion, disability, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic.

  • Disruptive Behaviour: Interrupting events, meetings, or discussions in a way that hinders participation or productivity. We also ask that friends or relatives not join group events unless the group has given prior approval.

  • Inappropriate Content: Sharing or displaying content that is offensive, obscene, or not aligned with our values.

  • Retaliation: Retaliating against anyone who reports or addresses misconduct.


Reporting Concerns

If you experience or witness behaviour that violates this Code of Conduct, please report it to the group’s Committee. Reports will be handled with discretion and care.

Reporting Process:

  1. Identify the issue: Clearly describe the incident, including any relevant details (e.g., date, location, people involved).

  2. Contact the Committee: Report the issue to cambridgeshiremqg@gmail.com

  3. Follow-up: The Committee will follow up promptly to address the concern.

If asked, we will do our utmost to ensure your complaint remains confidential. However please note that depending on the nature of the complaint or incident involved, this may not be possible.


Consequences of Unacceptable Behaviour

Depending on the severity of the violation, consequences may include:

  • A verbal or written warning.

  • Temporary suspension from group activities.

  • Permanent removal from the community group.

  • Notification to relevant authorities, if necessary.


Updates and Revisions

This Code of Conduct may be updated periodically to ensure it reflects the needs and values of our community. Members will be notified of any changes.
